Hanna's Town PA USA
These were modelled on the
1770's Hanna's Tavern at Hanna's Town PA.
My first attempts. The rough
hewn
wood
appearance was made using a light undercoat and
dark top coat then scraping it off before it
dried. The entrance hole is on the side. One of
them was auctioned off and raised $40.00!

The Church in New
England style.
The stained glass effect is
achieved by painting the windows solid black
over the white and scraping off with a small
screwdriver. Good effects can be made using an
under colour of red and yellow.

Since writing this I learnt
from my American friends that all the boxes made
and given to them have been used and one box was
used three times!
The five boxes in my daughters
garden were all used and families raised in
them. |

Some fun bird boxes.
I get some fun from
constructing the primitive painted boxes which I
donate to the charity shops. They are always
snapped up quickly. I try to decorate them with
friendly paints.

I do this to encourage people
to put boxes in their gardens.
Oak
box The Chapel. Based on a New England
design.
This is my favourite piece.

based paints.
