Hon. Chairman:   Colin Badger Tilzey.

We are proud to have Colin as our chairman.

His experience in the past annual Pickled Liver Rally Assoc is invaluable. He is a regular contributor to these pages with many exciting recipes.

Colin likes almost everything HOT and Crunchy.

He at present taking a tour of the USA to promote British Pickled Onions to the natives of that country. They have lost the skills of pickling over the years of isolation from their motherland. He is pictured here wearing his favourite "Onion Hat" at the onion picking bonanza held at Greensburg PA last July 2007.

Hobbies include: Wine glass balancing (asleep), cooking chillies, eating pickled onions.

Vice Chairman: is Wilfred Warmbottom. A resident of the fabled Chaffcombe Chimes reputed to be the inspiration for The Hobbit by Tolkien.

His knowledge of pickling with vinegar is well known. Winner on four consecutive occasions of the annual Onion prize for best presentation,  taste and crunchiness. Pictured here in the Stoke sub Hamdon tree climbing contest 2006. He was runner up to the Treasurer who won by a handsome margin. Wilfred is also renowned for his Beer and Wine  brewing activities. He is shown here wearing his favourite hobbit hat.

Hobbies include Bird Box making, litter picking, fat ball manufacture.

Jar filling Contest. Prizes for the fastest to jar  20 kilos of ready reeled onions. don't miss this exciting event. 20 April 2009. Held at Glastonbury Abbey Gardens. Bring a pick nic and some seats.

1 August 2009

May pole dancing at Stoke sub Hamdon Somerset. Venue: Woodleigh Lodge.

Bring a seat, wine  and a picnic.

 

 

Secretary Mrs Judith Tilzey. Judith's organisational skills are well placed for such a demanding national job as secretary to this busy association.

Pictured here wearing the family heirloom the "Norton Tiara" during a family reception.

Valued at Christies at £280,000.00. This Tiara has been in the family for 200 years.

Talk by Homoeopathist on the health benefits of Onions.

Onion Research Specialist: Mrs Louise Ruth Bates

Our resident specialist. Pictured here preparing the ground for her research in the Royal Onion Beds and botanical gardens Devoted mother of six, Colin, Bryony, Benjamin, Meg, Jess and Marmalade.

Her hobbies include tidy parties, pressing the bubbles on bubble wrap, soup making and speed embroidery. Her family fondly regard her as the "soup dragon".

Treasurer: Bryan "safety pin" Tilzey:

Best know for his tree climbing skills in the regular tree climbing competition held every year at Stoke -sub-Hamdon Somerset. Much cider, cheese and Pickled onions are consumed. This boyish event is hampered by the obligatory wellington boots.

Although retired he has managed to secure a full time job as stable boy to The Rt Hon Duchess Deborah of Odcombe.  His hobbies include photography, alcohol reduction exercises and motor vehicle re- assembly and part appropriation.

500grams Onions

1/2 cup olive oil.

2 Medium Potatoes

1 1/2 cup of tomato juice

Salt. Pepper.

Broth or stock optional

 

Method.

Peel and wash potatoes.

Cut into cubes.

Peel onions and slice. Put all in pot with tomato juice, add water or broth. Add salt and pepper, cook over a medium heat until potatoes are soft.

Alfred is a connoisseur of wild onions and has over the years evolved a nose to locate the hard to find specimens.

His hobbies include unprotected winter surfing, hoax phone calls, ordering take away's and practising other religions.

Mrs Lyn Hiscock.

Onion lover and Devout member of the Bishops Ring at Chester. Her hobbies include wine tasting, badger baiting, cat cuddling and car boot sales.

Pictured here in France incognito. Lyn took on the job as judge having been closely associated with many pickled partners. She is pictured in the French alps at a French Onion tasting session between pistes.
